  • A Revocable Living Trust (RLT) is a legal arrangement where a person can place assets into a trust during their lifetime. That person retains control over these assets and can modify or revoke their trust at any time. This type of trust is commonly used in estate planning for several reasons:

Avoiding Probate: Assets in a revocable living trust do not go through probate, which can save time and reduce costs upon the grantor's death.

Control and Flexibility: You retain control to manage the assets, make changes, or dissolve the trust entirely during your lifetime.

Privacy: Unlike a will, which becomes public record, a trust can keep the details of the estate private.

Management of Assets: A trust can provide for the management of assets if you become incapacitated, as a successor trustee can step in to manage the trust.

Estate Planning: It allows for a smooth transition of asset management and distribution according to your wishes.

  • A Pour-Over Will is a type of will that is used in conjunction with a living trust. It is designed to ensure that any assets not already included in the trust at the time of death are transferred, or "poured over," into the trust. This type of will acts as a safety net to capture any assets that were not properly transferred to the trust during the creator’s lifetime.

  • An Advance Health Care Directive (AHCD) is a legal document that allows individuals to outline their preferences for medical treatment and appoint a health care agent to make decisions on their behalf if they become unable to do so.

  • HIPAA authorization is a document that allows an individual to grant permission for their protected health information (PHI) to be shared with specified individuals or organizations, but only after the patient's written consent.

  • Guardianship Elections allow you to specify who will care for minor children if you are unable to do so.
